For A Moment

For a moment, something in his eyes reminded me of you.
There was a familiarity gazing back at me knowingly.
For a moment, my soul exhaled.
The lines that creased his face from years of abandoned laughter
Also served as the scars marking the bitterness of his humanity.
In the same moment that I saw his hopeless resignation,
The wildness of his heart fired back at me.
I reflected his gaze, overwhelmed by his unwaivering sincerity.
I heard the score of his life.
For a moment, I loved him, too.
