Cheryl and Amanda walk up the gate at the White House. Cheryl was interested in conversing with the Nice Man with a Gun. The conversation went as follows:
C: Excuse me. Are you allowed to talk to us?
C: I have never talked with a White House guard. Do you like your job?
A: Do you ever get to see “him?”
C: What do you like most about your job?
NMG: It can be exciting at times.
C: What do you like least about your job.
NMG: Being called a “guard.”
C: What do you prefer?
NMG: Secret service agent.
C: Oh…Um, sorry. Amanda, let’s go.

I just spent a week in Savannah and DC attending conferences. Below are the note-worthy quotes from the trip.
“The truth will set you free. But it will probably piss* you off first.” Dr. Steve Sroka
*I don’t like that word, but I try to quote people accurately.
“The Law is a teacher.”
“For those who live life by their feelings, it is a tragedy. For those who live by thinking, life is a comedy.” Chinese Proverb
“It is not a question of if you will fall. The question is how fast you get up.”
“Sometimes we have to give up what we love to do so that we can do what we need to do.”
“The best lack all conviction while the worst are full of passionate intensity.” Bernard Shaw
“Coitus without co-existence is demonic.”
And my favorite:
“The monstrosity of sexual intercourse outside of marriage is that those who indulge in it are trying to isolate one kind of union (the sexual) from all the other kinds of unions which are intended to go along with it and make up the total union.” Clive Lewis

Don’t you hate it when someone you haven’t seen in a long time comes into town, and when they leave, you have that unsatisfying feeling that there were hours of conversation still to be had.
Time is the diabolical thief of Almost. That bastard.

I work for a great lady. She is a visionary and a tireless champion for Life and Truth. I have learned so much from my boss about how to pick your words, how to pick your battles and how to pick a great wine.
But my boss is 50 something. And with those changes comes one invariable side-effect to life.
Holy Hot Flash, Batman! THE OFFICE IS FREEZING.

I use to think that “sight”was used as a verb in this verse. I thought it meant that I live by faith, not by my act of believing in what I was looking at. But the word is a noun. It means that I live by faith and not by what outward appearences are.
When I live by faith, I am leaning on things that I can not see. And this unseen Truth is more real than the way things appear through my filters.
I wonder what this will look like as it fleshes itself out day to day.
