I concede that I may be ignorant in the area of world governments. Japan has an emporer. Doesn’t a ruler actually have to have an Empire to be considered an Emperor?

It doesn’t seem like having a couple territories should be enough to qualify a person that kind of title.

I’m just saying.

If you don’t, I will.

Because I Met You

November 14, 2005

One weekend it was a guy at a wedding. He had such a kind face. He smiled at me when I talked, listening intently. Then it was the guy at BN who had the most amazing laugh lines, I just wanted to take his picture. Yesterday is was a charming foreigner who is also capitvated by the beauty of the heavens, and could sing the tune to Beethovens 7th, 2nd movement-my favorite.

I have to believe that one day I will meet someone that intriguing, but it won’t be the only time I lay eyes on him.

I’m tired of “I’ll probably never see him again.”

Help Me Understand

Why is it that when I tell people my family has Irish roots, or mention Irish music, or anything concerning the Emerald Isle, the person with whom I am speaking, almost without exception, responds with “AAAARRRR!”

I didn’t say I was a pirate!

I thought it was just me until I heard someone doing a really bad impression of an Irishman, and he did it too.

If anyone has any insight on this, please feel free to enlighten me.

Dear Respondant #2

Maybe you should start attending a church that will teach you Commandment #3.

So True

“‘Where do you come from?’ he asked me. This is the number one most-asked question in all of South Carolina. We want to know if you are one of us, if your cousin knows our cousin, if your little sister knows our big brother, if you went to the same Baptist church as our ex-boss. We are looking for ways our stories fit together.”
