Southern Comfort

As Confederate Memorial Day approaches, I am reminded of a conversation my little sister in nursing school had with my older sister this past week.

OS: So, how is school going?

LS: Well, right now we are finishing up some preliminary courses. We’re about to get into the real meat and grits of it all.

OS: I think it’s suppose to be “meat and potatoes.”

LS: Not where I’m from.

Despite what you think about a day honouring the fallen men of the War Between the States, one thing we can all agree on is grits. Amen?

Ya’ll come back now, ya hee-ah.
